Scope of Practice
Forensic psychological assessments, including evaluations of risk for reoffending, mental health and diagnostic assessments to providing treatment and management recommendations. Treatment for justice involved individuals, with a focus on sexual offending.

Dr. April Beckmann is a licensed psychologist with a practice in forensic psychology. She has been working clinically in this field since 2010, graduating with her doctorate in clinical forensic psychology from the University of Birmingham, UK.

She has worked in various custodial, parole/probation, and forensic mental health settings in British Columbia and the United Kingdom, in both provincial and federal systems, with male and female populations.

Most recently, she worked as a practitioner and chief psychologist of the Regional Treatment Centre with the Correctional Service of Canada, working with and overseeing service delivery to federally sentenced men experiencing serious mental illness.

During her 10 years working with the Correctional Service of Canada, she developed an interest in correctional and forensic mental health, providing treatment and assessment for justice-involved individuals. She provides treatment for provincially sentenced individuals who have committed sexually motivated offences.
